Join The IDF

jidf logo 2Join The IDF (in development) has a mission to be on the front lines recruiting for the Jewish Army and Sherut Leumi (Israel National Service). This initiative is planning to create the first ever, “Join The IDF” & “Service for Your Family, the Jewish People” posters.

When you get a young Jew to care for the Jewish People, you connect him to his People for life. Ideally, it will become normative for ever Jewish young adult in the Diaspora to come to Israel for at least a year of service before or after college by committing to Israeli National Civil Service (Sherut Leumi), or the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF).  With this new program, there can be a paradigm shift in Diaspora Jewish culture, where a significant percentage of our youth have new Jewish immersion experiences, maturity and leadership skills gained from these programs. There is a worrisome trend among Jews today who see Israel as a nation for Israelis, and not as the Homeland of the Jewish People.  This initiative can go a long way in reinvigorating the waning soul of Diaspora Jewry.

When the Jewish People were about to enter the Land of Israel, the Tribes of Reuven & Gad requested that they be given property on the other side of the Jordan to reside.  Moshe responded that they could with the provision that they had a duty to fight in Israel before choosing to settle outside the Land.  Moshe feared that these Tribes wouldn’t have the merit of fulfilling the mitzvah of defending Jewish lives and Milkhemet Mitzvah because they would become too complacent while living in Chutz L’Aretz.  Join The IDF would like the opportunity to present the same beautiful Torah concept that is still relevant today for all young Jews internationally.
